Nor'easter Hits Greater Newburyport Area

A rare September nor'easter is moving through the Greater Newburyport area, bringing sustained high winds and driving rain, The Daily News of Newburyport reported. The storm dominated Saturday morning and afternoon as it approached, with intermittent rain and strong gusts reported across the region.

The system is a large, ongoing nor'easter and is estimated to persist through Sunday and into Monday. Some forecasts predicted even higher wind speeds, and forecasters had expected periods of heavy rain and strong gusts to arrive today. In response, residents have been removing boats from the water where possible and securing vessels that remain afloat.
